Swansea poised to sack Garry Monk as he rejects help amid run of one win in eight

Garry Monk is set to be fired as Swansea manager.

Chairman Huw Jenkins is ready to axe Monk because of the Swans' alarming slump.
They have won just one of their last eight Premier League games - and that wasagainst hapless Aston Villa - and their performances have also collapsed.
Jenkins and his board are said to be “disappointed” with boss Monk, and are also unhappy that he snubbed their offer of help — they want to overhaul the coaching set-up because they feel their inexperienced manager needs assistance to turn the club around.
Swansea was Monk’s first coaching job when he was appointed in February last year, and the board reckon his lack of experience has cost them during their slide over the last two months.
It is understood the board want to bring in a director-of-football type figure above Monk, which the 36-year-old rejected because he felt it would have undermined his position.
Ex-Swansea defender Monk might have survived this snub if he had been able to engineer an upturn, but Saturday’s defeat at Norwich continued the club’s downward curve to leave them five points above the drop zone
The Swans look as anaemic and easy to play against as they were in the last days of Monk’s predecessor Michael Laudrup, and Jenkins knows he needs to act.
Jenkins has always pre-empted trouble by acting swiftly before a crisis can develop and believes this international break offers Swansea their last opportunity to make a change in the dug-out
