Derby fan punches Forest player on pitch, police arrest him

A Derby County supporter has been arrested after running on to the pitch at today’s game against Nottingham Forest and making contact with a Forest player, police said.

The incident came at the end of the match at the iPro stadium, which visitors Forest won 2-1.
Witnesses saw a supporter run on after the final whistle and try to throw a punch at Forest defender Kelvin Wilson, before confronting a handful of other Forest players.
The fan, who ran on from a Derby section of the stadium and through a line of stewards, appeared to swing at Wilson and was then tackled to the ground by his team-mate, Jamaal Lascelles.
He was surrounded by stewards and dragged away from the Forest players.
A police spokesman said: “Tension arose between both sets of supporters towards the end of the game, after Nottingham Forest had scored their second goal.
“A 23-year-old Derby supporter from the south stand entered the playing area and made contact with a Nottingham Forest player.
“The supporter has been arrested, and a joint investigation will be taking place between Derbyshire Police and Derby County.”
