ANGEL DI MARIA has told former Real Madrid teammates that he made a mistake by joining Manchester United.
The Argentine ace
has come in for criticism for his lacklustre showings since the turn of
the year, after a promising start to life in England.
But
reports continue to circulate that the player is unsettled in
Manchester and could look to force a move away from the club at the end
of the season.
A move to Paris Saint-Germain -
who saw a move last summer thwarted by Financial Fair Play regulations -
has been mooted, even with agent Jorge Mendes insisting his client is
happy at "one of the world's best teams".
Spanish
journalist Manuel 'Manolete' Esteban claims that the player has
confided in those closest to him that he is now having doubts over
whether he made the right decision to leave the Bernabeu.
Esteban told La Goleada: "Di Maria has confessed to someone at Real Madrid that he regrets joining Manchester United."
Recently,
United legend Gary Neville backed United's decision to spend £60m on
the former Benfica star, saying: "Obviously [Arsenal's Alexis] Sanchez
has had a far bigger impact and a better season than Di Maria.
"But if you would have asked me at the start of the season; Sanchez or Di Maria - I would have said Di Maria.
"I like Sanchez as well, but I would have said Di Maria at the start of the season."
