Emre Can says he can ''take the responsibility'' of replacing Steven Gerrard

Emre Can
Emre Can has said he wants to play in midfield next season, and "can take the responsibility of replacing Steven Gerrard."

The German Under-21 international has had a mixed first year on Merseyside, principally due to being shunted around the Reds team and playing large swathes of it out of position.
But he says that Brendan Rodgers sees him as a midfielder, and the 21-year-old insists he could play "any" role in either Liverpool's diamond or the centre of their 3-4-2-1.
“[Rodgers] talks all the time with me," Can told The Anfield Wrap podcast. "He sees me as a midfield player and I hope next year to be playing in midfield.
“Of course he talks with me every day and says what I can do better. He helps my game.
“He wants to play football and that’s what I want. That’s why I came to Liverpool.
“I want to play in midfield and I can take the responsibility [of replacing Gerrard]."
Can was Liverpool's only signing of the last 12 months to be deemed a hit by MirrorFootball , principally because he adapted so quickly to the world of English football. And his no-nonsense displays have seen him earn the affection of the Anfield faithful, something that has delighted the young midfielder.
