Arsenal news and transfers: Gunners eye up audacious move for Man United flop Angel di Maria? but Ozil set for preferred role, Sanchez to miss start of season

Napoli are still holding out for a skyrocketing £66m for Gonzalo Higuain AND Carl Jenkinson is on the brink of penning a contract extension at the Emirates
Arsene Wenger is interested in signing Manchester United winger Angel di Maria, according to the Daily Mail.
The Argentine moved to Old Trafford last summer for a British record £59.7m fee but struggled for form after a bright start in the Premier League.
Despite the Gunners' interest, United are determined to keep hold of Di Maria, who they believe will return to his best form next campaign.

Ozil set for preferred role

Arsene Wenger wants to make Mesut Ozil his perfect 10 next season.
German midfielder Ozil showed his true potential during Arsenal’s run-in to the 2014-15 campaign, when he was played in his preferred position.
That has made manager Wenger determined to build the coming season’s team around Ozil, believing their £42million record signing is key to them mounting a title challenge.

Sanchez to miss start of season

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez will miss the start of the new season after helping Chile win the Copa America on home soil.
The Chileans beat Argentina in the final last week to win the tournament for the first time in their history.
But Sanchez, who hasn't had a full summer break for two years due to international commitments, will be given extra time off to rest ahead of the new campaign.
