Manchester United want faster widemen Louis van Gaal warns West Brom win heroes Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata

Louis van Gaal has warned Manchester United match-winners Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata he is on the lookout for two new wingers.

Despite both men finding the net in Saturday's 2-0 victory over West Brom, Van Gaal admitted he is still not satisfied with balance of his attack, as United laboured to another three points.
Lingard continued his fine form with his first goal for the Old Trafford giants, while Mata maintained his 100 per cent record from the penalty spot.
But Van Gaal revealed afterwards he wants more pace on the flanks, and told the pair he is ready to bring in new faces if they cannot deliver what he wants.
“I have said already, in my first year many times, we need speed and creativity on the wings,” said Van Gaal.
“You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard, and he is not the most speedy winger in the world. Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world.
“So first we must address that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.
“I want to buy a lot of players, but not all of the players I want are for sale. So there are a lot of factors in it.”
Despite his warning to Lingard, Van Gaal praised the 22-year-old for his second straight man-of-the-match display, capped by his sublime strike.
It has been a long road back for Lingard, who started Van Gaal’s first Premier League game in charge of the club 15 months, only to suffer a long-term injury.
“He played in my first [competitive] game and then he was injured and had to recover for six months and then recover his rhythm,” said the Dutchman. “While I said to some of the other young boys they could go on loan at the start of the season, I said to him ‘You have to stay’. [And] He wanted to stay. He had played a lot of matches for us in pre-season in the USA and played well.”
Lingard opened the scoring after 52 minutes, with Mata converting from the spot in added time after Gareth McAuley was shown a straight red for bringing down Anthony Martial.
Lingard’s impressive displays for United have put him firmly in the England frame, but Van Gaal said it was too early for him to be called up by Roy Hodgson.
