Wayne Rooney says England vs France will show the terrorists "the world will go on and stand against them"

Wayne Rooney has given a passionate rallying cry in support of France - and promised never to let the terrorists win.

England captain Rooney said the whole squad will “show togetherness” after admitting he was “shocked and sickened” as he watched the Paris terror attacks from the team hotel in Spain on Friday night.
The Manchester United striker rang Old Trafford teammates involved in the France-Germany game that was targeted by a suicide bomber to make sure they were safe, and says it is vital Tuesday's England vs France friendly at Wembley goes ahead to send a strong message of defiance.
Rooney said: “I’m happy the game’s on. It shows France wants to show these terrorists they’re standing strong against them, and we have to support that.
“It will be a great night of togetherness for everyone to see, for the terrorists to see the world will go on and stand against them.
“I’ve seen the images and the footage, it’s sickening. It’s a sad time. Football globally does a lot for the world and it shows everyone as a unit. The world as one — football has the power to do that.
“The world of football has to stay strong together and I’m sure everyone will do that and try to deal with this situation. Us as players and the fans knows how to do it. Football helps a lot to bring people together.
“I spoke to all my current team-mates at Manchester United, including Bastian Schweinsteiger on the German side.
