Real Madrid eviscerated Malmo to secure first place in Champions League Group A.
Cristiano Ronaldo scored four goals,
Karim Benzema netted a hat-trick and Mateo Kovacic bagged a goal as the Spanish giants smashed their hapless visitors 8-0.
Rafael Benitez rotated his side, leaving out the likes of Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale. But that still left a fearsome front three of James Rodriguez, Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo.
Somewhat predictably, 33-year-old former Rotherham and Plymouth Argyle defender Kari Arnason struggled to deal with the pace and movement of Madrid's frontline as they slashed apart the Malmo defence at will.
The Swedish champions went into this game needing to better Shakhtar Donetsk's result in Paris to stay in continental competition and qualify for the Europa League, but within 24 minutes they were 2-0 down from a Benzema brace and the game was over.
Cristiano Ronaldo then scored four consecutive goals, breaking his own Champions League record for the amount of goals by a player in the group stage before Kovacic made it seven.
Benzema rounded off his hat-trick to score an eighth and set Madrid up for double figures, making it the first time that two hat-tricks had been scored in the same Champions League game.
Rafael Benitez will now turn his attention to Sunday's difficult trip to fifth-placed Villarreal.
Madrid find themselves four points off La Liga leaders Barcelona and two points behind city rivals Atletico, who also confirmed their own qualification for the Champions League knockout phase after beating Benfica tonight.
The Portuguese hit four to make it 11 goals in the group stages with Karim Benzema also netting a hat-trick against hapless Malmo
