Mourinho also backs Chelsea fans to make their temporary home, wherever it might be, still feel like home when they are forced to move out
And
the charismatic boss has backed Blues supporters to make a temporary home feel like a permanent one when they are forced to move out through redevelopment.
Chelsea will be forced to move out of their home in the coming seasons as recently released plans for the expansion were released.
As it stands, Chelsea have the eighth largest Premier League ground with a capacity of 41,798 - largely disproportionate to the success the club has experienced in the Roman Abramovich era.
Mourinho now aims for many more years of success at the club and at Stamford Bridge.
He told reporters: "I've taken charge of 98 matches on my bench in Stamford Bridge and hope to have more.
"I know the club needs to make the next step and that is a new Stamford Bridge, more seats.
"At a certain point of our lives as a club, we will have to leave, which is a bad thing but, if we need to play at another stadium, we will try to make it our new home while we wait."
Chelsea's expansion of Stamford Bridge will take the capacity up to 60,000 - and fans have already been invited to an exhibition to take a look at the development plans.
The historic design of the stadium plan, which features large brick pillars, has been inspired by Westminster Abbey.
Abramovich had explored the possibility of relocating, but is understood to have made the decision to stay at Stamford Bridge in 2013.
