Jose Mourinho to seek end to Arsene Wenger feud with handshake after Chelsea's game with Arsenal
Jose Mourinho will try to make peace Arsene Wenger by offering to shake hands ahead of Saturday's Stamford Bridge showdown.
Chelsea boss Mourinho will seek out bitter rival Wenger and look to end their long-running feud before the lunch-time kick-off.
The managerial rivals did not shake hands after the Community Shield in August, the first time Wenger had beaten Mourinho in 14 meetings.
But it is understood Mourinho is determined to offer a hand of friendship to his Arsenal counterpart on Saturday, not necessarily in the full glare of the TV cameras but possibly in a private room before the game.
The emnity between the pair has seen them not only exchange insults but clash physically on the touchline.
Wenger appeared to snub Mourinho at Wembley last month when the Chelsea boss waited at the bottom of the stairs to congratulate the Gunners squad after they collected their winners medals.
Mourinho said: "I am happy you describe what happened in the correct way.
"That's what I did. I respond for my action and others respond for their action."
Wenger refused to get drawn into the row yesterday and said: "I don't want to talk about that. I have nothing more to say about this situation."
The feud between the managers dates back to Mourinho's first spell in charge of Chelsea when he branded Wenger a "voyeur."
Mourinho then branded Wenger a "specialist in failure" last year and the FA has even introduced a new code of conduct for touchline behaviour this season in the wake of a touchline bust-up at Stamford Bridge last season.
